The IIU’s team reached the “HULT PRIZE” final

ISLAMABAD: (I.R.Khan) The IIU’s team reached

The team of mechanical engineering students of International

Islamic University of Islamabad Faculty of Engineering continued

their journey after achieving several successes at the national level

and reached the final stage of HULT PRIZE. 6 teams have qualified.

The finals of this competition will begin on September 20 with a

prize of one million US dollars.

The final year project developed locally by the students of the

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and

Technology was supervised by Assistant Professor Engineer Javed

Ahmed Khan Tipu and Dr. Muhammad Arif. The members of this

team include Hafiz Muhammad Moaz Sohib, Muhammad Naveed,

Haris Ahmed Khan and Saleha Usman of the Department of

Sociology.

IIU’s team also won Regional & Boston Global Accelerator Program

The team previously won the HULT PRIZE Regional Summit and also

won the HULT PRIZE Global Accelerator Program in Boston, initially

competing against 200,000 teams from around the world and then

28 teams in the Global Accelerator Program to reach this stage. The

success story of this team from International Islamic University

started with winning a funding of Rs.600,000 from Pakistan Science

Foundation, sponsored by UNESCO, UNDP and other renowned

companies for the development of “Low Cost Plastic Waste

Recycling Machine”. . This machine converts waste plastic material

into 3D printing filament and is used as raw material for

manufacturing various 3D printed products. The project later won

many national and international competitions and finally the Jamia

team won the global honor of making it to the final stage of the

HULT PRIZE.

Recognition in the global competition is the efforts of the group

The team members have said that this much recognition in this

global competition is the result of the day and night efforts of all

the group members. He thanked Chairman Department of

Mechanical Engineering Dr. Adnan Aslam Noon and Dean Dr.

Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh for their continuous support and guidance

and thanks to the teachers these achievements were possible and

helped raise the flag of Pakistan at the international level.
