ISLAMABAD: (JTN) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas elected
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has been elected as the 14th Prime
Minister of Azad Kashmir. He took oath of office on Monday. Tanveer
Ilyas hails from Banguin area of Rawalkot in Azad Kashmir. He
opened his eyes in 1974 in village Dhaki in Banguiin area of
Rawalkot. He got his early education in Bangui. He also holds a
degree in Journalism, including an LLB from Abad. He is the
mastermind behind successful state-of-the-art projects such as The
Centaurs and Taj Residencia. In 2009, PML-Q nominated Sardar
Tanveer Ilyas Khan as a member of the Senate. However, due to
instability in the government at that time, Tanveer Ilyas did not
participate in the Senate elections. In 2018, Tanveer Ilyas joined PTI.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan was made part of the interim cabinet of
Punjab during the 2018 general elections in which he had eight
different ministries including agriculture, livestock, irrigation.
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan On October 14,
2020, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan was appointed as Special Assistant
for Business, Investment and Trade. In the July 25, 2021 elections,
the PTI won a clear majority and has a total of 32 members in the
53-member House. In the second week of August 2021, party
chairman Imran Khan appointed Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi as the
prime minister and Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan as the party president.

On April 12, his own ministers and members of the Assembly
presented Qayyum Niazi in the Assembly Secretariat, distrusting
Qayyum Niazi, and nominated party president Sardar Tanveer Ilyas
Khan as the new Leader of the House after Imran Khan’s approval.
